Eastern Michigan University's volleyball player, Kendal Bonney, has been honored with the Demonstrators Scholarship by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The announcement was made on Wednesday, October 30.

Bonney, who hails from Pioneer, Ohio and attends North Central/Ashland, will participate in the annual AVCA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. There she will join 31 other individuals as demonstrators for on-court educational sessions. The selection of these demonstrators was influenced by their interest in pursuing coaching careers.

The AVCA's 2024 convention will host a total of 83 scholarship recipients. In addition to the Demonstrators Scholarship awardees, there will be 33 volleyball leaders receiving the Diversity Award and 18 coaches honored with the Coaches 4 Coaches Award.

This recognition comes during a standout season for Bonney. As a junior, she has achieved career-highs in several categories: kills (144), total blocks (42), digs (52), assists (three), and points (167.0). She also recorded single-game career-best performances with 13 kills against George Washington on September 6 and eight digs against Marshall on September 7. Furthermore, she matched her personal best with five blocks each against George Washington and Valparaiso on August 31.

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan's Eagles are scheduled to face the Ball State Cardinals in two matches on Friday and Saturday, November 1-2. Friday's game is set for a 6 p.m. start while Saturday's match will begin at 4 p.m.
