The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) women's basketball team is preparing to conclude their participation in the UTRGV Holiday Classic with a game against Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi on December 20. The match will be held at the UTRGV Fieldhouse in Edinburg, Texas, and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The Eagles aim to secure a victory before the holiday break following a challenging 73-66 overtime loss to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on December 19. In contrast, the Islanders emerged victorious over the University of Missouri Kansas City with a score of 64-59 in their opening game of the tournament.

This encounter marks EMU's first meeting with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Historically, EMU holds an all-time record of 4-3 against current members of the Southland Conference.

"Sisi Eleko secured her fifth double-double of the year by scoring 18 points and adding 17 rebounds against UTRGV," notes a statement from EMUEagles.com. "The MAC leader in double-doubles continues to lead the league in points (20.9) and rebounds (11.3) and ranks 14th and seventh, respectively, in NCAA Division I."

Additionally, Mackenzie Amalia has been highlighted for scoring over ten points in four consecutive games. "Her 18 points against UTRGV are a season high and just two shy of her career-best," according to official statistics.

Following this event, EMU will resume action post-holiday on December 28 when they host St. Thomas University at George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti.
