The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) men's basketball team is set to face Wright State on Saturday, December 21, at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This match marks the Eagles' penultimate game of the 2024 calendar year.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Ryan Wooley and Grant Long providing commentary. Fans can also listen to the live coverage by Tom Helmer and John Motherwell on WEMU (89.1 FM) and through the Varsity Network App. Live stats will be available via EMUEagles.com.

This matchup against Wright State is notable as it is their first encounter in men's basketball despite both teams being located within 174 miles of each other. Eastern Michigan has played all but four of the 44 Division I schools within a 300-mile radius from Ypsilanti.

In their previous game against Purdue Fort Wayne on December 15, Eastern Michigan trailed early but managed to cut down the lead before eventually losing 99-76. Senior Jalen Terry scored a career-high 28 points during this match, while Purdue Fort Wayne set a record at the George Gervin GameAbove Center with 20 three-pointers.

Senior Da'Sean Nelson has consistently scored at least ten points in his last six games. A similar performance against Wright State would mark his longest scoring streak.

The Eagles have been competitive this season, having four players averaging over twelve points per game for the first time since before the 1973-74 season. The team includes senior Jalen Terry who averages a team-high of 16.3 points per game.

Eastern Michigan's head coach Stan Heath is in his fourth year leading the team with an overall record of 36-67 at EMU and a career record of 245-274 over seventeen years as a head coach.

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will travel to Davidson for their next game scheduled for December 28.
