Tim Chan achieved a notable third-place finish at the 2024 White Sands Bahamas Men's NCAA Invitational, leading the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team to complete their fall season. The tournament took place from October 25-27 at the Ocean Club Course in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Chan set a school record with a round of 63, contributing to the team's overall score of 8-under par (856), marking it as the 11th-lowest team score in program history.
The Eagles began the competition tied for ninth after shooting a four-over 292 on October 25. The following day saw significant improvement as Chan's nine-under performance helped elevate the team to seventh place with an 11-under score of 277. On the final day, they recorded a one-under score of 287, maintaining their position and achieving their lowest tournament score of the year.
Chan finished with a total score of 14-under 202 (69-63-70), matching his best collegiate finish and setting a new school record by surpassing previous scores by one stroke. His achievement ranks second in program history behind Tyler Lewis's score of 200 in February 2018.
Freshman James Baxter also performed well, tying for 20th place at four-under with rounds of 71-68-73 totaling to his best collegiate score of 212. Rory McDonald-O'Brien completed the tournament at even-par, finishing with rounds of par or better for only his fourth time in his career.
Other participants included Bavake Sihota and Daniel Robles Delval who finished tied for lower positions while Lucas Hughes competed individually.
Historical notes highlighted that this was EMU's lowest tournament score this year and noted Tim Chan's record-breaking performance.
The Eagles will resume competition at the Gator Invitational scheduled for February next year.
