Congressman John R. Moolenaar | Rep. John R. Moolenaar Official U.S House Headshot
Today, Congresswoman Kay Granger, the Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, announced she is stepping down as the chair of the committee. Granger has served in the House of Representatives since 1997.
In response to Granger's decision, Congressman John Moolenaar, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, expressed his thoughts, stating, “Kay has been a strong leader for our country as the head of the Appropriations Committee, and she has been a steadfast advocate for national security and our military. She is a trailblazer, as the first woman to be elected mayor of Fort Worth, and the first female Republican to serve in the House of Representatives from Texas. Her leadership will be missed on the committee and I wish her all the best.”
Granger's departure from her role as the Chair of the Appropriations Committee marks the end of an era, with her notable contributions and leadership leaving an impact on the committee. The House of Representatives will now look towards the future to fill this significant position.
