The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team achieved a significant victory over Ohio University, the preseason favorite in the Mid-American Conference. The Eagles secured a 94-87 win on January 21 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Eastern's strong performance was highlighted by a 50-point first half, which gave them a 15-point lead at halftime. Da'Sean Nelson contributed significantly with 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Jalen Terry added 17 points and seven assists, while Arne Osojnik scored 16 points with three steals and five rebounds. Christian Henry also played well, scoring 18 points.
The game began with Eastern making four of its first six three-point attempts to take an early lead. Despite Ohio's efforts to close the gap, Eastern maintained their advantage throughout most of the game. A late push from Ohio brought them within five points with less than a minute remaining, but Eastern secured their win by converting crucial free throws.
This victory brings Eastern Michigan's record to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play. They shot an impressive 60.3% from the floor and made ten three-pointers during the game.
The Eagles will next face the University at Buffalo on January 25 as they aim for their third consecutive MAC win.
