Shepherd Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec 20.
Today officers from Central Michigan University Police Department - CMUPD, Michigan State Police, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Department and our department got to meet some very special people and shop with them at Meijer "Shop With a Hero" event.
Chief Sawyer first got to shop with Aliyah, a young lady who was ready to shop! She bought some really cool items for her family and even got some things for herself. We even played the "crane game" at the front of the store...and lost miserably...but we had a good laugh.
Next up was Chief's buddy, Jacob. He did some power shopping...which us non-shopping types enjoy due to the actual speed of the shopping. He purchased some neat stuff for his family.
Chief's third shopping partner was Edie. This was unique because at the same time Mrs. Chief was shopping with her sister Mina. So we were trying to be secretive and at the same time competitive against her sister. We had a blast!
After items were purchased, they were wrapped by volunteers and then each child was given A LOT of goodies from Meijer.
A HUGE thank you to Sarah and her crew at Meijer for making such a special event for the kids and the officers.
Events like this sure make you realize exactly how truly blessed you are!
