St. Clair Shores Firefighters issued the following announcement on Dec 13.
The calls the Macomb County Technical Rescue Team responds to can become great learning points for other teams. Case in point, an internationally recognized textbook, Trench Rescue Principles and Practice, NFPA 1006 & 1670, 4th Ed, by Jones & Bartlett, details an actual case the county technical rescue team was called out to for a rescue. The call ended in the rescue of 2 victims and the team was able to apply their expansive knowledge of soil and excavation collapse principles to the run. Moreover, one of our department members was not only on the run, but was published in the textbook, recounting what took place during this rescue effort.
This department member who was called out with the team is also one of the team managers that has responded to multiple calls of this nature, and helps teach at the national level. Such an example underscores the value added to our city by our members that continue to be apart of the Macomb County Technical Rescue Team. Our family is always ready to help your family!
