A children's advocacy center has been given a combined $15,000 in grants to support a mobile advocacy center initiative.
According to Record & Clarion, the Northern Michigan Alliance for Children (NMAC), which serves children in Clare, Gladwin and Missaukee counties, is the recipient of two grants that will help further the organization's Mobile Child Advocacy Center.
NMAC works with suspected victims of abuse, both physical and sexual, by advocating for children in rural areas of Northern Michigan.
The Gladwin County Community Foundation has given NMAC a $10,000 grant and the Consumers Energy Foundation has offered the organization a $5,000 grant.
The $15,000 in grants will be used by NMAC to help further support the organization's mobile unit initiative through the construction of a pole barn for storage. The storage facility will be used to house the mobile unit, as well as store recording equipment, keeping these items safe and continuously operational, even in inclement or severe weather conditions.
