FOIA Request to Isabella County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
We at East Michigan News have submitted a request under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq., seeking comprehensive details about all candidates running in the upcoming election. Our request includes the full names of the candidates, the offices they are vying for, their party affiliations, and their jurisdiction.
In addition to this, we have also requested complete contact information for each candidate, including their address, phone number, and email address. This information is crucial for us as we strive to provide our readers with accurate and detailed coverage of local governmental affairs.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We also noted that given our role in disseminating information to the public, we should be eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
