Today, the United States Supreme Court upheld the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act. This law mandates that TikTok divest from Chinese Communist Party ownership to continue its operations in the United States.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party expressed his views on this decision. "This is a pivotal moment for the future of TikTok," he stated. He emphasized that this ruling does not constitute a ban on TikTok but rather offers "a pathway to a safer, better TikTok."

Moolenaar highlighted that President Trump recognizes both the threat posed by Chinese control over TikTok and how to negotiate effectively. He mentioned that there are many American buyers ready to invest billions so users can keep using TikTok.

However, Moolenaar criticized ByteDance, TikTok's parent company controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, for not engaging in negotiations. "It is ignoring the law because it does not care about you," he remarked. According to him, if ByteDance values its users, it should help facilitate what he called "the deal of the century" to ensure safety and a promising future for TikTok and its users.

Moolenaar concluded with a call to action: "Now all ByteDance has to do is sell. Let’s get to work."
