Chairman John Moolenaar of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has announced new senior staff hires for the 119th Congress. In a statement, Moolenaar highlighted the importance of these appointments in addressing national security challenges posed by China.

"The Chinese Communist Party represents the most complex and significant national security challenge of our time, and it is crucial that we continue to build on the tremendous progress the Committee made in the 118th Congress," said Moolenaar. He emphasized that Margaret Harker, Alyssa Pettus, and David Russell will bring valuable expertise to their roles.

Margaret Harker will serve as General Counsel for the Select Committee. She previously worked with the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform as Deputy Chief Counsel for Investigations. Her experience also includes serving at the Department of Justice as an Assistant United States Attorney in both Virginia and Tennessee.

Alyssa Pettus takes on the role of Communications Director. Before joining this committee, she held communications leadership positions at Leidos, including Director of External Communications. Her prior experience includes serving as Press Secretary for Senator Richard Shelby.

David Russell will join full-time from Chairman Moolenaar's personal office as Senior Advisor for Policy and Communications.

Dave Hanke continues his role as Staff Director for the Select Committee.

These staffing decisions underscore Chairman Moolenaar’s commitment to countering China's influence and protecting American interests.
