On January 3, the House of Representatives voted to renew the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party for the 119th Congress. This decision has been acknowledged by Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL).
In a joint statement, Moolenaar and Krishnamoorthi expressed their support for the committee's renewal: “We welcome the Select Committee’s renewal for the 119th Congress. The Chinese Communist Party represents an unprecedented challenge to our economy, our national security, and our values, and we will continue to meet it with the urgency this moment demands." They also extended their gratitude towards Speaker Johnson and Leader Jeffries for their ongoing support.
The statement concluded with a commitment to collaboration: "We look forward to working with our colleagues and across administrations current and future to protect our nation.”
