Chairman John Moolenaar of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party has expressed his approval following President Trump's nomination of former Senator David Perdue as the United States' next Ambassador to the People's Republic of China.

In a statement, Moolenaar said, “I am pleased to see President Trump’s decision to nominate former Senator David Perdue to be the United States’ next Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. Senator Perdue will bring a clear-eyed perspective to the role and will help the United States combat the malign behavior of the Chinese Communist Party. I look forward to working with him and the incoming Trump administration to counter the CCP’s economic, military, and ideological threats in the coming year.”

The nomination comes as part of efforts by President Trump and his administration to address concerns related to China's influence.
