The Eastern Michigan University baseball team faced a challenging game against the University of Toledo Rockets, resulting in an 11-1 loss at Scott Park on Sunday, May 5. The Eagles struggled to close the gap after falling behind early in the game.

In the fourth inning, Eastern Michigan managed to score their only run with junior Lucas Johnson crossing home plate. Despite efforts to rally, Toledo extended their lead by adding four more runs, sealing the final score at 11-1.

Several players from Eastern Michigan made notable contributions during the game. Cory Taylor increased his team-leading RBI total to 35 with a single run driven in. Liam Baker delivered a strong performance in relief, pitching four innings and achieving four strikeouts, matching his career-high set earlier against Kent State University.

Giano Zuccaro also made an impact with one hit, a walk, and a stolen base. His single marked his fourth consecutive game with a hit and extended his streak of reaching base to 17 games.

This matchup marked the 176th meeting between Eastern Michigan and Toledo, with the Eagles holding a historical record of 101 wins and 75 losses against the Rockets.

Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan is scheduled to play Ohio State University at Bill Davis Stadium in Columbus on Tuesday, May 7 at 6 p.m.
