On May 17, marks two straight years that the national average gas price has been above $3.00 per gallon. Comparatively, the national average gas price never rose above $3.00 per gallon for a single day from January 2017 to January 2021.

"For the last two years, Michigan families have been forced to pay more at the pump because of President Biden’s policies. He killed a pipeline project and thousands of American jobs on his first day in office, and has made it harder to make energy here in our country. Just recently, his administration delayed construction of the Line 5 pipeline tunnel until at least 2026. I am fighting to unleash American energy production, create jobs, and cut red tape. That is why I voted for the Lower Energy Costs Act earlier this year," said Congressman John Moolenaar.

According to publicly available Federal Reserve economic data, May 17, 2021 was when the national average gas price crossed above $3.00 per gallon. It has not been below that threshold since.
