Shepherd Police Department issued the following announcement on Apr 1.
There are 2 significant national campaigns in the month of April...
April is National Autism Acceptance Month. As an "autism dad" this holds a special place in Chief Sawyer's heart. He will be wearing a special badge for the month to recognize it and foster questions and conversations. The last slide in all his school presentations has the statement - Different is NEVER less than. Together let's create a kinder world!
April is also National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Protecting our children from abuse takes a FULL community effort! Chief Sawyer is honored to sit on the Isabella County Child Advocacy Center Board as the Board Chair. The mission of the center is to prevent and end child abuse in our community by providing education, safety, healing and justice. You will see blue pinwheels around Isabella County, the State of Michigan and nationally which represent the national symbol for child abuse prevention. Pinwheels reflect the bright future all children deserve.
