St. Clair Shores Firefighters issued the following announcement on Jan 6.
What does the term RIT mean? RIT stands for rapid intervention team. It is a safeguard we never hope to use but if a mayday is called and a firefighter is trapped and/or critically injured, this team works quickly to rescue that firefighter. This team is usually found nearby the structure on fire and is dedicated solely to their RIT assignment - although it may look like we are standing around, we can promise you, nothing could be further from the truth. It is a job function every department trains on because any one department may serve as the RIT crew when called upon.
On this particular scene from three days ago, Roseville had a working house fire and Shores Station 3 served as the RIT unit. Thankfully no injuries were reported. Our family is always ready to help your family.
