MidMichigan Medical Center - Gladwin issued the following announcement on Oct. 8.
Dua’a (Dee) Ibrahim-Weber, a human resources leader with more than 30 years of experience, has been named chief human resources officer of MidMichigan Health. She will succeed Greg Ghilardi, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, who will retire on Dec. 31, 2020, after 13 years with the Midland, Mich., based non-profit health system.
“Greg’s commitment to excellence and his leadership in our organization have made a significant difference for all of us at MidMichigan Health,” said Diane Postler-Slattery, Ph.D., FACHE, president and CEO, MidMichigan Health. “We congratulate him on his many accomplishments and wish him all the best for his retirement years.”
The recipient of Michigan’s HR Executive of the Year Award from the American Society of Employers in 2018, during his tenure, Ghilardi led a number of successful projects with MidMichigan Health. Projects under his guidance included the restructure and redesign of the system’s compensation program, implementation of two retirement and savings plan initiatives, initiation of a new nurse residency program, integration of employee programs for affiliated subsidiaries in Alpena and West Branch, implementation of vendor changes for benefits programs, resulting in $2 million savings, and most recently, the implementation of a pandemic PTO program.
Weber, who will transition to her new role on Nov. 1, currently serves as senior vice president/chief human resources officer of Southwest General Health System in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
“Dee is a results driven leader who cares deeply for employees and is committed to ensuring they have what is needed to care for patients,” said Postler-Slattery. “As the largest employer in most of the counties we serve, it’s critical we attract and retain top talent. Dee brings a wealth of experience and understands the climate and culture of the health care industry. We are looking forward to her leadership on human resources initiatives, while continuing to foster and grow MidMichigan Health as an excellent place to work.”
Voted the Most Influential System Leader and nominated by colleagues for the Women of Compassion Award at Southwest General for three years in a row, at MidMichigan Health, Weber will oversee the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures, growth of workforce recruitment and retention, maintenance of competitive total rewards and recognition, as well as administer benefit plans and employee relations efforts.
During Weber’s career she has had the opportunity to work in international human resources, working for privately, as well as publicly traded organizations. She has led multiple mergers and acquisitions, designed multiple tier health care plans, launched a comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategy, chaired several labor contraction negotiations, reduced employee turnover and increased physician group engagement scores, as well as implemented an RN to BSN program at no cost to employees through collaboration with local universities.
“Today’s workforce requires innovative and cutting edge human capital strategies,” said Weber. “A proactive mindset, when dealing with the evolving multi-generational needs, wants and demands, is imperative to the success of the organization.”
Having grown up in the Middle East and fluent in Arabic, Weber came to the United States when she was 10 years old. She received both her MBA and bachelor’s degree in human resources development from the University of Toledo. She also completed an 18 month internship at a Volkswagen auto manufacturing facility in Frankfurt, Germany. Weber and her husband have been married for 33 years and have two adult sons.
