The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team faced a challenging game against Central Michigan University, ultimately falling short with a final score of 73-64. The Eagles, now holding a record of 1-15 overall and 0-6 in the Mid-American Conference, were led by Mackenzie Amalia who scored a season-high of 19 points.

In the first quarter, the Eagles managed to tie the game at 7-7 after a three-pointer from Amalia. However, Central Michigan responded with an 11-2 run. By halftime, the Chippewas had extended their lead to 19 points.

Eastern Michigan showed resilience in the second half, starting with an 8-0 run in the third quarter. They managed to outscore Central Michigan 20-7 during this period, reducing the deficit to six points by the end of the quarter. Despite these efforts and forcing seven turnovers from their opponents, they could not complete their comeback.

Mackenzie Amalia's performance was notable as she achieved her fourth consecutive game with multiple three-pointers. Olivia Westphal contributed significantly as well with four three-pointers and a total of 14 points.

The loss marks Eastern's second consecutive defeat against Central Michigan and places them at a disadvantage in their historical series against them. The Eagles will next face Northern Illinois University on January 22 at home.
