The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) gymnastics team emerged victorious at the Golden Girls' Classic held on January 17, 2025. Competing against Mid-American Conference rivals Ball State University and Northern Illinois University, as well as out-of-conference opponent Winona State University, EMU secured a win with a score of 195.125 points at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
This victory marks the first time since at least 2003 that EMU has started a season with a 4-0 record. The team also posted their best season-opening score since 2003 with a score of 194.925 against Bowling Green on January 12.
The meet saw EMU achieving seven personal bests across various events: one in vault, two in bars, three on the beam, and one in floor exercises.
Raisa Boris from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota highlighted the event for Eastern Michigan by finishing first in the all-around category with a season-best score of 39.125. She surpassed Hannah Ruthberg of Ball State who finished second with an overall score of 38.500.
In vaulting, Abby Brushwood from State College, Pennsylvania led EMU with a season-best score of 9.775. On uneven bars, Raisa Boris scored a tie for her season-best with a 9.825 leading five gymnasts who tallied at least a 9.70.
On balance beam, Ella Chemotti led EMU scoring a season-best of 9.775 while Priya Karle and Abby Brushwood both achieved scores of 9.850 on floor exercises to conclude their second meet this season.

- Tied for second: Kyrie Lowe - 9.850

- Tied for second: Abby Brushwood and Priya Karle* - both scored 9.850
All-Around:
1st place was secured by Raisa Boris with an overall score of 39.125.
Looking ahead, EMU will host Kent State at home on Sunday, January 26th starting at 1 p.m., again taking place at the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
