The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) women's basketball team is set to face Central Michigan University (CMU) on Saturday, January 18, at McGuirk Arena in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The Eagles, holding a record of 1-14 overall and 0-5 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), will compete against the Chippewas who stand at 6-10 overall and 2-3 in MAC play. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
In their last outing against Buffalo on January 15, EMU's Sisi Eleko recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. This achievement places her as the leader in double-doubles within the MAC and ranks her 13th nationally.
The upcoming match marks another chapter in a long-standing rivalry between EMU and CMU. The Chippewas currently lead the all-time series with a record of 55-39. In their previous encounter on January 13, 2024, CMU emerged victorious with a score of 64-60.
EMU has maintained a streak of scoring at least one three-pointer in their last 118 games, extending back to November 29, 2020. Against Buffalo, they connected on nine three-pointers.
Looking ahead, EMU will host Alumni Weekend from January 31 to February 1 around their game against Toledo. Former players are invited to participate in events including an Alumni Game and Mixer.
Sisi Eleko continues to make significant contributions for EMU this season by averaging over nineteen points per game along with ten rebounds. Her performance puts her among only three players nationally achieving such statistics through games played by January 15.
Additionally, Mackenzie Amalia has been notable for leading NCAA minutes played per game while also ranking second within MAC for assists per contest.
