Eastern Michigan football team excels with academic honors in MAC

Eastern Michigan University's football team has distinguished itself academically by placing 16 student-athletes on the 2024 Academic All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) Football Team. The announcement was made by the conference office, which highlighted a total of 202 student-athletes from various institutions within the conference receiving this honor.

The Academic All-MAC recognition is awarded to student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in both athletics and academics. Eligibility for this accolade requires maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 and participation in at least half of the sport's contests.

Among those honored from Eastern Michigan are Deion Brown, Blake Daniels, Mitchell Dietzel, Carter Evans, Nicholas Gallegos, Jere Getzinger, Kendric Nowling, Max Reese, Mickey Rewolinski, Broderick Roman, Quentavius Scandrett, Dennis Strey Jr., Mitchell Tomasek, Daniel Warnsman, Jamarien Wheeler, and Joey Zelinsky.

Jere Getzinger received his fourth academic honor from the MAC. Meanwhile, Mitchell Tomasek and Daniel Warnsman each earned their third awards. Blake Daniels and Max Reese were recognized for the second consecutive year.

Across the conference, other schools also had significant representation on the Academic All-MAC Team. Akron had 16 athletes named; Ball State placed 15; Bowling Green saw 18 honorees; Buffalo had 12; Central Michigan also had 12; Kent State featured 12; Miami included 18 athletes; Northern Illinois University (NIU) led with 31 honorees; Ohio contributed 13 athletes; Toledo listed 19 names; and Western Michigan had 20 student-athletes recognized.

This achievement underscores Eastern Michigan's commitment to fostering an environment where academic success complements athletic performance.
