The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) gymnastics team is set to host the Golden Girls Classic on Friday, January 17, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Competing against EMU will be teams from Winona State, Ball State, and Northern Illinois.

Fans can watch the competition live on ESPN+ or follow along with live results available through links on the EMU gymnastics schedule page on EMUEagles.com.

The Eagles recently achieved their best season-opening score since at least 2002 with a 194.925 against Bowling Green on January 12. This narrowly surpassed their previous best of 194.875 set in a season opener against Bowling Green in 2020 and Pittsburgh in 2016.

This upcoming meet marks Eastern Michigan's first home quad since January 28, 2022. During that event, they scored a 195.025 while competing against Ball State, Western Michigan, and UW-Oshkosh.

Two EMU gymnasts, Alana Fisher and Keeley Kohler, have been named MAC Gymnasts to Watch for the current season. The team ranks as the top Mid-American Conference (MAC) team nationally at number 30 according to Road To Nationals rankings.

Several individual gymnasts from EMU are also ranked nationally: Raisa Boris is ranked in multiple categories including floor (27th), all-around (37th), and bars (68th). Genae Daniel is ranked for vault (53rd), while Alana Fisher holds a ranking for vault as well (68th).

In recent history, senior gymnast Raisa Boris has earned several accolades including MAC Gymnast of the Year and Senior Gymnast of the Year titles after an impressive previous season where she was named MAC Gymnast of the Week four times.

Senior Ella Chemotti became just the fifth MAC beam champion in school history last year and continued her success by leading her category for three consecutive years.

Looking ahead to this season, Eastern Michigan introduces seven freshmen to their roster: Sanai Evans from Norcross, Georgia; Keeley Kohler from Davison, Michigan; Brianna Lucas from Marietta, Georgia; Elise Ritzenthaler from Quinlan, Texas; Analiah Solorio from Littleton, Colorado; and Jaelyn Stetz from Moorhead, Minnesota.
