Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team is set to host Old Dominion University on February 8, 2025. This game marks the second leg of the Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Conference Challenge. The announcement was made on January 13, 2025.
In the first leg of the MAC-SBC Challenge held on November 4, 2024, Eastern Michigan faced a defeat against Texas State with a score of 64-44. The Sun Belt Conference won seven out of the twelve contests during this initial round.
Historically, Eastern Michigan holds a record of one win and two losses in the MAC-SBC Challenge. They previously defeated Georgia Southern on November 11, 2023, with a score of 70-60 but lost to Louisiana-Monroe on February 10, 2024, by an 82-76 margin.
The MAC-SBC Challenge represents a scheduling alliance in both men's and women's basketball between the two conferences. It began on November 4 with twelve MAC women's basketball teams hosting SBC teams. Meanwhile, twelve MAC men's teams will travel to play against SBC opponents.
The upcoming games on February 8 are determined based on real-time NET rankings. The matchups will be hosted by MAC men and Sun Belt women teams. Each participating team is guaranteed one home and one away game each season.
