EMU gymnastics opens season with victory over BGSU

Eastern Michigan University's gymnastics team began its 2025 season with a win against Bowling Green State University, securing a score of 194.925 to BGSU's 193.100. The meet took place on January 12 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Senior Raisa Boris led EMU with an all-around score of 39.075, earning first place overall. Boris excelled on floor exercise with a meet-best score of 9.875 and tied for first on bars with a score of 9.825. Her performances on beam and vault also contributed to her success.

Sophomore Genae Daniel achieved a personal best on vault with a score of 9.825, securing the title in that event. Senior Alana Fisher followed closely behind with a second-place finish scoring 9.800.

The Eagles showed strong performances in the bars event as well, where Boris shared the top spot again with her score of 9.825. Senior Ella Chemotti and freshman Analiah Solorio both scored 9.800 to tie for third place.

On beam, Solorio and junior Kyrie Lowe tied for second place each scoring 9.750, while Boris and sophomore Katin Childress both scored 9.725 to tie for fourth place.

Boris' standout performance continued on floor exercise where she claimed first place again with her top score of the day at 9.875.

Eastern Michigan will host its next meet at home against Winona State, Ball State, and Northern Illinois on January 17 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
