Eastern Michigan University's track and field team marked a significant achievement at the Wolverine Invitational, held at the University of Michigan's U-M Indoor Track Building. Josephine Oloye set a new indoor 300-meter school record, tying for first place with a time of 38.05 seconds. This event was the team's first competition in 2025.
The Eastern women's team secured two first-place finishes and five top-three positions overall, while the men's team achieved one first-place finish and four top-three placements. Together, both teams recorded 40 personal-best performances.
Josephine Oloye from Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria, highlighted the women's track events by breaking the school's indoor 300-meter record. Senior Marta Moreno from Wassenaar, Netherlands also delivered an impressive performance by finishing second in the 3000-meter run with a personal-best time of 9:45.80.
In field events, graduate student Kyra Buffen from Columbus, Georgia won the triple jump with a distance of 11.79 meters (38-08.25). Micah Martin placed second in the high jump with a leap of 1.68 meters (5-06.00), while Megan Rybitski secured second place in pole vaulting at 3.55 meters (11-07.75).
For the men's team, Formula Thompson led by winning the triple jump with a distance of 15.07 meters (49-05.50). Lucky Ezechukwuchiri continued his strong start to his career by placing second in the high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters (06-09.00).
Carson McCoy and Gabe Singh stood out on the track for EMU men; McCoy finished second in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:19.25—the ninth-fastest indoor time in program history—while Singh took third place in the 400-meter dash clocking at 49.43 seconds.
The Eastern men's relay team comprising Nathan Gaspersic, Shelton Bass, Michael Hawkins, and Josh Flake posted their season's fastest time for a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay at 3:24.91.
The Eagles will host their next meet on January 25th during the Second Annual Bob Parks Memorial event back home in Ypsilanti.
