Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team faced a challenging game against Akron, ending with a 105-81 loss at the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The game on January 11 saw four Eagles players score in double digits: Christian Henry with 22 points, Da'Sean Nelson with 16, Arne Osojnik contributing 15, and Jalen Terry adding 12.

The match began with Eastern Michigan taking an early lead, thanks to a strong start from beyond the arc. However, Akron countered with a significant run to gain control and held a commanding 54-38 advantage by halftime. In the second half, Akron extended their lead further, reaching as high as 24 points before concluding the game.

Statistically, Eastern Michigan recorded a shooting percentage of 44.4% from the floor and managed nine successful three-pointers out of 28 attempts. Meanwhile, Akron had an impressive field goal percentage of 60.7%, including nine three-pointers from just 21 attempts.

The loss placed Eastern Michigan's overall record at seven wins and eight losses for the season and marked their second defeat in Mid-American Conference play. Akron improved to ten wins against five losses overall and remained unbeaten in conference games.

Christian Henry matched his career-high steals count during this game while also leading his team in scoring for the fifth time this season. Da'Sean Nelson achieved double figures for the tenth consecutive game and equaled his season high with four assists.

Historically speaking, EMU has now lost more games than won against Akron with an overall record of 24-38 in their encounters. Notably, this was only the second instance since 1998 that an opponent scored over 100 points at EMU's home venue.

Next on Eastern Michigan's schedule is an away game against Central Michigan at McGuirk Arena on Tuesday evening.
