The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) women's basketball team is preparing for its first road game in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) this season. The Eagles will face Bowling Green State University on January 4 at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. The game will start at 7 p.m. and will be available for viewing on ESPN+.
Both teams are coming off losses in their MAC openers on January 1. EMU lost to Western Michigan University with a score of 65-51, while Bowling Green was defeated by Kent State University, ending the game at 81-71.
Despite recent setbacks, individual performances have been noteworthy. Sisi Eleko from EMU achieved her eighth double-double of the year against Western Michigan, scoring 23 points and securing 15 rebounds. She currently leads the league in points per game (20.1), rebounds per game (11.7), and double-doubles, ranking highly nationally as well.
Elena Cabello also had a standout performance against Western Michigan, matching her career-high in scoring with eight points and doubling her previous best rebound total with ten.
Mackenzie Amalia continues to lead EMU in assists with an average of 5.7 per game, placing her third in the MAC and twenty-first nationally.
The history between these two teams shows that Bowling Green leads the series overall; however, EMU won their last encounter on March 9, 2024.
Sahar Nusseibeh will be coaching against Bowling Green at their home venue for the first time as head coach of EMU but has previously faced them as an assistant coach during her tenure with Miami.
After this matchup, EMU will travel to Muncie, Indiana to play Ball State University on January 8.
