Jalen Terry scores career-high as Eastern falls to Purdue Fort Wayne

Jalen Terry matched his career high with 28 points as Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team fell to Purdue Fort Wayne with a score of 99-76. The game took place on Sunday, December 15, at the George Gervin GameAbove Center.

Terry, hailing from Flint, Michigan, achieved his 28-point tally for the second time this season, including a career-high 11 field goals. Despite his efforts, Eastern Michigan was unable to overcome Purdue Fort Wayne's strong performance.

Purdue Fort Wayne started the game aggressively with a 26-9 run. Although Eastern Michigan responded with a 16-7 run of their own, they trailed at halftime with a score of 48-34. In the second half, Purdue Fort Wayne extended their lead significantly by making 11 three-pointers and reached a maximum lead of 32 points before concluding the game at 99-76.

Eastern Michigan now holds an overall record of 5-5 while Purdue Fort Wayne improved to 8-4 this season. During the match, Eastern shot 47.5% from the floor and made six out of twenty-one attempts from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Purdue Fort Wayne shot at a higher percentage of 54.7% from the field and successfully made twenty out of thirty-nine three-point attempts.

The game saw several noteworthy performances from Eastern players. Jalen Billingsley led in rebounds with nine boards and scored sixteen points. He also set a personal best by making all six free throw attempts. Da'Sean Nelson contributed defensively with two blocks and equaled his season high in assists.

Historically speaking, this loss brought Eastern's record against Purdue Fort Wayne to three wins and two losses. The Eagles maintained their streak of games with multiple three-pointers but failed to force more than ten turnovers for the first time in nine games.

Eastern Michigan is scheduled to play against Wright State on Saturday, December 21st at home in Ypsilanti.
