Eastern Michigan University signs two international tennis players

Eastern Michigan University's tennis program has announced the addition of two new players, Kenzy Elhamrawy and Sabrina Tolstova, for the 2025-26 season. Head coach Ryan Kucera expressed his enthusiasm for the newcomers, stating, "I am thrilled to have Kenzy and Sabrina join the Eagle tennis family next fall." He highlighted their accomplishments on both national and international levels and praised their passion for tennis.

Kenzy Elhamrawy from Alexandria, Egypt, has been involved with the Egyptian National Team since she was an under-11 player. She has achieved a Universal Tennis Ranking (UTR) of 9.0. Kucera noted her positive attitude and powerful forehand as significant strengths: "On the court, she has a huge forehand that is a true weapon."

Elhamrawy's achievements include qualifying for the Billie Jean Cup U16 Tournament where she placed 11th overall, marking a record high finish for an Egyptian U16 player. She has also reached No. 2 in Egyptian junior rankings and made it to several finals in ITF tournaments.

Sabrina Tolstova hails from Odesa, Ukraine but relocated to Tenerife in March 2022. She holds a UTR of 9.23 and was formerly ranked as Ukraine's top U14 player. Kucera commented on her game style: "Sabrina possesses all the necessary skills to put opponents under pressure."

Tolstova's accolades include being ranked in Spain's top four for U16 players and achieving three ITF junior tournament singles titles. She also served as captain of her team at the Spanish U16 Championships.

The current Eagles team is preparing for upcoming competitions including dual matches against Ferris State University scheduled for January 18 at the Chippewa Club.
