Eastern Michigan holds fourth after day two at Denison Invitational

The Eastern Michigan University swim team holds its position in fourth place after the second day of competition at the Denison Invitational. The event, taking place at Denison University's Trumbull Aquatic Center in Granville, Ohio, saw EMU accumulate 729.5 points by the end of Friday, December 6.

In relay events, EMU earned a total of 114 points. They placed sixth in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. The medley team included Kiersten Russell, Abby Szadorski, Tristen Mina, and Emma Littrell with a time of 1:44.20. In the freestyle relay, Azra Umut, Littrell, Nehir Oz, and Russell finished with a time of 7:39.21.

Highlighting individual performances for EMU was the 400-yard IM finals where three swimmers finished in the top ten. Nehir Oz led with a third-place finish and personal-best time of 4:28.97. Szadorski followed closely in fourth place with a time of 4:29.09 while Morgan Hofmeister took ninth in 4:36.22.

Azra Umut stood out in the 100-yard backstroke finals securing tenth place with her personal best time of 56.32 seconds followed by Kiersten Russell who came eleventh.

In other notable performances for EMU, Szadorski claimed sixth place in the A final of the 100-yard breaststroke clocking in at 1:03.85 while Riess Estep was seventeenth overall.

Mina also contributed to Eastern's point tally along with Olivia Clarino and Siporah Sang during the 100-yard butterfly final; they collectively earned 47 points.

After two days at Denison Invitational, Emory University leads with a score of 1,297 points followed by Denison University and University of Indianapolis respectively holding second and third places.

Eastern Michigan looks to improve their standings as they return for day three on December seventh starting with prelims at ten o'clock followed by finals later that evening at six o'clock.
