Eastern Michigan University football player Jesús Gómez has been recognized as the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference on December 5. This marks the second time this season that Gómez has received this honor, having previously been selected on October 23.

Gómez demonstrated exceptional performance during the game against Western Michigan University on November 30. He successfully completed a point-after-touchdown (PAT) and a field goal attempt, including a 32-yard conversion, contributing four points to his team's score. Throughout the regular season, Gómez accumulated 87 points, ranking ninth in program history and averaging 7.3 points per game, placing him second in the MAC standings. His achievement of kicking 20 field goals this year makes him only the second Eastern Michigan player to reach such a milestone in a single season, following Andrew Wellock's record of 21 field goals in 2004. Additionally, Gómez became one of just five players to attempt over 100 PATs in his career at Eastern Michigan, with his 95 successful conversions ranking fourth all-time for the university.

Throughout the season, Gómez has garnered several accolades from the MAC. Recently named to the 2024 All-MAC Second Team, he was also recognized as the MAC Special Teams Player of the Week four times in 2024 (on September 9, September 16, September 23, and October 21). Alongside these honors, he received two MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards.
