The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) swim and dive team is preparing for the Denison Invitational, scheduled to take place from December 5-7 at the Trumbull Aquatic Center in Granville, Ohio. The invitational will feature teams from Denison University, Emory University, Washington University-St. Louis, and the University of Indianapolis. Preliminary events will start each day at 10 a.m., with finals commencing at 6 p.m.
Head Coach Derek Perkins leads EMU into this mid-season event, marking the fifth time in his six-year tenure that the team has participated in the Denison Invitational. In past performances under Perkins, EMU's best result was a victory during the 2019-20 season when they accumulated 2,223 points. The team also achieved top-three finishes in subsequent years.
Currently boasting a 3-1 record for the first time since Perkins' inaugural season in 2019-20, EMU aims to replicate their success from that year when they won both their dual meets and mid-season invitational.
Diver Rebekah Knapp has been named MAC Co-Diver of the Week as of November 27. This accolade marks her second of this season and third overall. Earlier this season on October 23, she qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships with a personal-best score of 317.25.
In recent competitions against Oakland on November 21, senior Abby Szadorski led with three event wins including both breaststroke events while Knapp continued to excel by achieving another NCAA Zone Diving Championships cut.
Looking ahead to upcoming meets after Denison Invitational, EMU will resume competition January 10-12 at UB Diving Invite following a brief break over December.
