Eastern Michigan University's senior forward Da'Sean Nelson has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the MAC on Monday, December 3.
Nelson, hailing from Toledo, Ohio and with a background at Robert S. Rogers High School, Kilgore College, and DePaul University, had an impressive week. He averaged 21 points per game, along with 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Notably, he matched his career high by scoring 24 points against the University of Detroit Mercy on November 30. Previously, he scored the same number of points against Villanova University while playing for DePaul on January 10, 2023.
Throughout the week, Nelson's performance included scoring 19 points in a victory over Houston Christian University on November 25 and contributing another 20 points to a win against Northern Arizona University on November 26. Consistently strong throughout the season so far, Nelson has recorded at least four rebounds in every game and multiple assists in each of his last four games. Additionally, he tallied three blocks and two steals during this period.
Nelson achieved personal bests during these games: making nine field goals at Houston Christian on November 25 and converting nine free throws against UDM on November 30.
This recognition marks Nelson as the first Eagle to receive this honor since Tyson Acuff was recognized after his performance in February earlier this year. Nelson shares this week's award with Jermahri Hill from Ball State.
