The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced its final weekly awards for the 2024 football season on December 2. Eastern Michigan University's linebacker, James Djonkam, was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Djonkam, a senior from Springfield, Virginia, had an impressive performance with 17 tackles, including eight solo efforts. He also achieved a career-high with three tackles for loss and one sack while forcing a fumble and breaking up a pass. The previous week he recorded 22 tackles. His consistent performance places him among only four players in the Football Bowl Subdivision to have two games with over 17 tackles this year. Djonkam concluded his season with 98 tackles and led his team with 11.5 tackles for loss, ranking fifth in the MAC.

The latest updates on Eastern Michigan University’s football team can be found at EMUEagles.com, including information about National Signing Day on December 4. The MAC will announce its postseason awards on December 5.

In other award categories for Week 14 ending December 2: Parker Navarro from Ohio and Brett Gabbert from Miami were recognized for their offensive performances as quarterbacks; JaVaughn Byrd from Northern Illinois University was acknowledged for special teams.
