Eastern Michigan University's football team faced a challenging game against the University at Buffalo, resulting in a 37-20 defeat on November 20. The Eagles, now holding a 5-6 overall record and 2-5 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), played their final home game of the season while honoring 12 seniors.
Buffalo started strong with a 90-yard touchdown pass and maintained momentum throughout the first half, leading 17-0 by halftime. Eastern Michigan's James Djonkam had an impressive defensive performance with 22 tackles, surpassing his previous career high.
In the third quarter, Eastern Michigan narrowed the gap when Cole Snyder connected with Terry Lockett Jr. for a touchdown, but Buffalo quickly responded to extend their lead. Despite another touchdown from Snyder to Markus Allen early in the fourth quarter, Buffalo sealed their victory with a quick scoring drive followed by an interception return for a touchdown.
Cole Snyder threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns against his former team, marking his third game of over 300 passing yards this season. Markus Allen recorded 187 receiving yards, while Terry Lockett Jr. added two touchdowns and over 100 receiving yards.
Eastern Michigan's offense outgained Buffalo with a total of 445 yards compared to Buffalo's 396. Despite this offensive output, the Eagles were unable to overcome Buffalo's effective scoring plays.
The loss places Eastern Michigan in a position where they must win their next game against Western Michigan University on November 30 to achieve bowl eligibility. Both teams will enter that matchup with identical records of 5-6, making it a decisive contest for both programs.
