The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) Department of Athletics has announced a partnership with the Kovacs Institute for Sport and Human Performance. This collaboration, supported by GameAbove Sports, aims to provide specialized training for men's golf, women's golf, and women's tennis teams at EMU.
Scott Wetherbee, EMU Vice President/Director of Athletics, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "We are thrilled to partner with the Kovacs Institute, which has a proven track record of working with elite athletes across sports."
The Kovacs Institute is recognized internationally for its science-based approach to optimizing human performance. Led by Dr. Mark Kovacs, it serves as a "chief performance officer" for various clients including elite sport athletes and executive athletes. Dr. Kovacs's background includes roles at the United States Tennis Association and the Gatorade Sport Science Institute.
Dr. Mark Kovacs stated, "We are very honored to partner with GameAbove Sports and be part of EMU Athletics."
GameAbove Sports focuses on global sports business development and empowering athletes. The division introduced the idea of collaborating with the Kovacs Institute in spring 2024.

Since 2019, GameAbove has donated over $34.5 million to benefit EMU and its community. One significant contribution is the GameAbove Golf Performance Center at Eagle Crest Golf Course.
