Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team secured a narrow victory over IU Indianapolis, 74-71, in a non-conference game at The Jungle on Thursday. Jalen Terry led the Eagles with an impressive performance, scoring 28 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and making three steals.

Terry's contribution was significant as he made six three-pointers, helping the Eagles recover from an early deficit of 15-7. Da'Sean Nelson's highlight-reel dunk also energized Eastern Michigan during the initial phase of the game.

The Eagles managed to outscore the Jaguars 38-20 in an 11-minute stretch, securing a halftime lead of 45-39. In the second half, Eastern Michigan extended their lead to a game-high of 13 points at one stage. Despite a late surge by IU Indy that brought them within three points with four minutes left on the clock, they could not close the gap further.

Statistically, Eastern Michigan shot 43.3% from the floor and 41.7% from beyond the arc while IU Indy managed only 26.7% from field goals and 24.2% from three-point range.

Jalen Terry matched his career high with his scoring output, which he had previously achieved while playing for DePaul against Seton Hall in January 2022. His six successful three-pointers were also notable as they were the most by an Eagle since Arne Osojnik hit six against Western Michigan earlier this year.

The victory improved Eastern Michigan's record to 2-1 overall while IU Indy fell to a balanced record of two wins and two losses. Historically, this win marked EMU's fourth victory out of five encounters against IU Indy.

Next up for Eastern Michigan is an away game against Cleveland State University scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
