Eastern Michigan University's cross country teams are preparing for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships. The event, hosted by the Mid-American Conference and the Cleveland Sports Commission, will take place at Silver Creek Metropark in Norton, Ohio, on Friday, November 15.
Both men's and women's teams from Eastern Michigan will compete with seven athletes each. They aim to qualify for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. The top two teams from each of the nine regions automatically qualify, while 13 additional teams receive at-large bids. Additionally, 38 individuals will be selected through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.
The women's race is a 6k starting at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 10k at noon. Competing in the women's race are Paige Marchant, Marta Moreno, Anita Zaro, Liv Hatch, Lucy Jones, Anna Bathellier, and Chloie Musta. The men's team includes Sam Peterson, Ronan Codyre, Ty Dailey, Kian Wiles, Isaac Garcia, Lachlan Cornelius, and Aaron Schwieterman.

In their last appearance at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on November 10, 2023, Eastern Michigan's men finished in 19th place with 522 points while the women placed sixth with 208 points. Esme Davies led the women with an all-region finish in 18th place.
Historically since 2000, Eastern Michigan has participated in this regional meet multiple times. Their best finishes were second place for men in both 2000 and 2002 and fourth place for women in 2017.
As of November 4th rankings by the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Eastern Michigan's women are ranked ninth and men thirteenth in the Great Lakes Region.
Most recently on November 2nd at the MAC Championships held at Ball State University Cross Country Course in Muncie Indiana both programs secured third-place finishes as a team.
