Eastern Michigan University's football team faced a narrow defeat against the University of Toledo, with a final score of 29-28 at Rynearson Stadium. The Eagles, who now hold a record of 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the Mid-American Conference, were unable to secure victory after a failed two-point conversion attempt following a last-second Hail Mary touchdown.
The game began with Eastern Michigan taking an early lead as Cole Snyder connected with Markus Allen for a six-yard touchdown. Despite outgaining Toledo in all categories, the Eagles couldn't maintain their advantage. Jesús Gómez contributed significantly with three field goals throughout the game.
In the fourth quarter, Toledo took the lead after scoring touchdowns on consecutive possessions. The Eagles managed to tie the game at 22-22 before Toledo scored again, leaving Eastern Michigan trailing by seven points. In the game's final moments, Snyder's pass found Terry Lockett Jr. for a dramatic touchdown as time expired, but the subsequent two-point attempt was unsuccessful.
Cole Snyder completed 24-of-45 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns while also recording his longest career run at 29 yards. Oran Singleton achieved his first career 100-yard receiving game with eight catches for 103 yards.
Defensively, James Djonkum and Luke Murphy led with double-digit tackles. Eastern Michigan forced two turnovers during the match but ultimately fell short against Toledo's efforts.
The loss extends Eastern Michigan's losing streak against Toledo to three games and marks their second consecutive one-point defeat in Ypsilanti against this opponent.
Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will have an extended break before facing Ohio University on November 13th as part of their midweek MAC schedule.
