Eastern Michigan cross country teams secure third place at MAC Championships

Both the men's and women's cross country teams from Eastern Michigan University achieved third place at the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships. The event took place on November 2, hosted by Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles secured three all-conference honors during the competition. Paige Marchant from London, Ontario, received her second consecutive first-team honor for the women's team. On the men's side, Sam Peterson of Charlevoix, Michigan, and Ronan Codyre from Auckland, New Zealand, earned second-team accolades for the first time in their careers.

In the women's race, Marchant led with a fourth-place finish clocking in at 20:31.8. Marta Moreno followed in 15th place with a time of 21:10.1. Anita Zaro and Liv Hatch finished closely together in 24th and 25th places respectively.

For the men’s team, Peterson led with an eighth-place finish at 24:30.1 while Codyre came in 11th at 24:37.3. Ty Dailey rounded out EMU's top-three male finishers in 15th place.

The women’s team scored a total of 92 points to secure their third position behind Toledo and Ohio who scored 32 and 82 points respectively. Meanwhile, the men’s team also placed third with a score of 78 points following Toledo's leading score of 49 points and Miami's close second at 51 points.

The Eagles are set to compete next at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet on November 15 in Norton, Ohio.
