The Mid-American Conference Fall Individual Championships concluded in Hamilton, Ohio, with Eastern Michigan University's Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare securing second place in the doubles tournament. The duo reached the finals but were defeated by Miami University's Emilia Valentinsson and Sara Zalukar with a score of 6-1, 6-3.
Brichackova and Vichare, both seniors, showcased their skills throughout the tournament. Their journey included a victory over Ball State's Sara Shahbaz and Isabelle Tanjuatco in the quarterfinals and a semifinal win against Maria Glowacka and Jagmeet Kaur from the University at Buffalo. Despite their loss in the final, both players advanced in EMU's all-time win standings.
Freshman Iva Daneva also participated in her first MAC tournament, achieving a remarkable comeback victory against Miami's Zalukar before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Northern Illinois University's Nataly Ninova. "I'm really proud of our girls this week," said Head Coach Ryan Kucera. "Iva started off the tournament with one of the best comebacks I've seen."
Kucera praised Brichackova and Vichare for their performance: "They had a tough draw, but they just focused on playing their tennis... I am so proud of those two."
The Eagles will next compete at Michigan State University's Spartan Classic from November 1-3.
