The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive team secured a narrow victory against the Buffalo Bulls, winning 149.5-148.5 at the Dorsi Raynolds Pool on Saturday, October 26. This marks their second consecutive win for the 2024-25 season.
Head Coach Derek Perkins has now achieved a 2-0 start for the second time in his tenure, having previously done so in the 2019-20 season when Eastern finished with a 4-1 record in dual meets and placed third at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships. Perkins' teams have also achieved a 5-1 record in MAC openers.
In individual events, Azra Umut from Istanbul led Eastern in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 10:36.37. Ali Kudo from Guelph won the 200-yard freestyle with Nehir Oz and Emma Littrell securing second and third places respectively.
Abby Szadorski took first place in both the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke, while Tristen Mina secured victory in the 100-yard butterfly event.
Despite only scoring four points in the final event, the Eagles managed to hold on to their lead for a close win against Buffalo.
The Eagles will next compete against Indiana State at home on November 9.
