Eastern Michigan University's cross country teams are preparing to host the EMU Fall Classic on Friday, October 25, at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Michigan. Both men's and women's teams will participate in the 5k race. The men's race is set for 4:30 p.m., followed by the women's race at 5 p.m.
The event will feature competitors from Michigan, Michigan State, Oakland, and Chicago State. Unattached collegiate and post-collegiate athletes will also join the races. Fans can access live timing online and check EMUEagles.com for a complete post-meet recap.
According to the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), both Eastern Michigan teams hold regional rankings in the Great Lakes Region as of October 21. The women are ranked No. 10, while the men stand at No. 13.
Last year, on October 20, 2023, Eastern Michigan hosted the EMU Fall Classic without team scoring. Former Eagle Destiney Rose led the women with a time of 20:01.2, while Carson Vanderschaaf paced the men's team with a time of 16:35.4.
On October 18, Eastern Michigan competed in two separate events: the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M University and the Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green State University. In Texas, the men's team finished in 12th place with Sam Peterson achieving a personal-best time of 23:32.6 for a 33rd place finish. The women's team secured an 11th place finish led by Paige Marchant's seventh-place performance with a personal-best time of 19:32.0.
The teams combined to achieve sixteen personal records across these events on October 18.
Looking ahead, Eastern Michigan will begin postseason competition at the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships on November 2.
