The Mid-American Conference has recognized Eastern Michigan University football player Jesús Gómez as the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week. This announcement was made on October 23, 2024. Earlier in the week, Gómez also received the title of MAC Special Teams Player of the Week on October 21.

Gómez, who is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, achieved a flawless performance by successfully completing all his field goal and PAT attempts against Central Michigan. He leads the MAC with 66 points and 15 field goals this season. Nationally, he ranks second in both field goals made per game and total field goals made, while standing at 17th for total points and 21st for points per game. His current season record of 15 field goals surpasses his previous best of 13 set in 2022.

This marks Gómez's first academic honor from the MAC this year and adds to his four other accolades earned in 2024 as MAC Special Teams Player of the Week on September 9, September 16, September 23, and October 21.

Eastern Michigan will face off against the University of Akron on October 26 at InfoCision Stadium in Akron, Ohio. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ and broadcasted on WEMU (89.1 FM) and The Varsity App.
