The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) football program hosted its third annual "Empty The Nest" event on May 17 at the Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti. This initiative aims to connect senior student-athletes with EMU alumni who have established themselves in various business and athletics-related professions.

The event facilitates networking by allowing student-athletes to engage in two 25-minute sessions with mentors whose fields align with their interests. Discussions cover topics such as job interview strategies, life after football, and entry into specific industries. After an introductory session where mentors presented themselves, participants were grouped for dinner conversations before proceeding to individual sessions. A subsequent social period ensured all student-athletes interacted with each mentor.

Mentors were selected based on feedback from the athletes regarding their career interests. Notable participants included Jeremy Allen, Executive Director of Michigan Chronicle; Brad Bush, Assistant Director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association; and Chris Economeas, Community and Social Responsibility Director at Detroit Pistons.

In addition to this networking event, significant changes are underway for the upcoming 2024 season at EMU's stadium. The facility is undergoing renovations that include removing the track and replacing the turf. The field will be renamed "Maxx Crosby Field," following a $1 million donation from NFL player Maxx Crosby and his wife Rachel Crosby.

Season tickets are available through various channels including phone orders or visiting the Eastern Athletics Ticket Office during business hours.
