The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) track and field teams began their campaign at the 2024 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with promising results. The event, hosted by Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, saw the EMU women's team leading with 22 points, while the men's team secured third place with 21 points after the first day of competition.

Eastern Michigan's performance was marked by notable achievements. "The Eagles had one individual champion on the first day of competition," and several athletes advanced to final heats. In total, EMU recorded 16 personal-best performances, with men achieving 11 and women five. Additionally, they secured ten program top-10 marks.

In women's events, Esme Davies and Sofia Ivanko excelled in the 10,000m run, finishing second and fifth respectively. Miranda Cadwell placed third in the hammer throw with a toss of 56.99m, contributing six points to the team's score. Paige Marchant and Anita Zaro advanced to finals in the 1,500m prelims.

For the men's team, Ryan Johnson emerged as an individual champion in the hammer throw with a distance of 65.17m. Jake McEachern followed closely behind in second place with a personal-best throw of 63.65m. Samuel Jeffery performed well in the decathlon, securing second place after day one with multiple personal bests.
