Eastern Michigan University (EMU) women's basketball player Sisi Eleko has been invited to participate in the Basketball Africa League's (BAL) inaugural Pan-African U-23 Women's Camp. The event will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from May 28 to June 1.
The BAL is organizing a series of youth development and social impact events, including the BAL4HER camp, alongside its Playoff and Finals in Kigali. The camp aims to inspire women to pursue leadership roles and careers within the sports industry while empowering young female athletes.
Participants for the camp are selected through five BAL U23 ID camps, a scouting network, and NBA Academy/BWB alumni. Eleko, who stands six-foot-two, is transferring to EMU from Canisius University. During her time with the Golden Griffs, she was recognized as an All-MAAC First Team Player and made significant contributions on the court.
Eleko achieved a career-high of 24 points twice last season and set a personal best of 19 rebounds in a game against Buffalo. She also broke Canisius University's record for rebounds by a sophomore with 328 boards.
Selected players at the camp will have opportunities to attend BAL Playoff games, participate in cultural activities, network with professionals, collect memorabilia, engage with media, and experience high-level basketball.
Fans can follow Eleko's journey via EMU's social media handles @EMUWBB or visit emueagles.com for updates on the program. Additional information about the BAL or BAL4HER Camp can be found at bal.nba.com.
