Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball team has bolstered its lineup with the addition of three transfer players for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Head Coach Stan Heath announced the signing of Trey Pettigrew, John Shanu II, and Julian Lewis.

Trey Pettigrew, originally from Chicago, Illinois, joins the team as a 6-foot-4 combo guard. During his freshman year at the University of Nevada in 2022-23, he averaged 3.2 points per game. He later redshirted at Salt Lake Community College after beginning the 2023-24 season at Bradley University. "We're excited to have Trey," Heath stated. "He's extremely talented and explosive."

John Shanu II is a 7-foot forward from Houston, Texas. He spent the previous season redshirting at UTRGV and achieved a shooting percentage of 59.3% during the 2022-23 season while recording 12 blocks. "John's a great get for us," Heath remarked about Shanu II's potential impact on the court.

Julian Lewis comes from Ann Arbor, Michigan as a versatile 6-foot-6 wing player. Before redshirting in 2023-24, he played at Miami University where he averaged 5.8 points per game in the prior season. Lewis was also recognized on the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team in 2021-22 during his time at William & Mary University.

Coach Heath expressed optimism about each player's contribution to the team: "Julian will elevate our team chemistry," he said regarding Lewis.

The new recruits join other newcomers Dillon Tingler, Christian Henry, Jalen Terry, De'Sean Nelson, and Godslove Nwabude for EMU's next basketball season.

Fans can look forward to watching these new players in action at Eastern Michigan University's George Gervin GameAbove Center.
